Shave, trim, pluck, and cut like you know what you’re doing

If you’re talking to someone, they’ll probably have a good look at your face. Sure, having a great body and a good sense of style is all part of the bigger picture, but probably your most important physical feature is your face.

This is why you want to make sure your face always looks fresh and clean.

As fashion is constantly changing and evolving, different trends pop up and disappear, and it can get hard for men to make sure they’re always up to date. I mean, let’s be honest man, we don’t really give half a shit about the current trend. With that being said, there are some general rules that you should always follow – regardless of the current trend.

Eyebrows

Eyebrows. I’ll say it again: eyebrows. Notice, that I’m not saying eyebrow!

Let’s face it: two eyebrows are better than one. So why the fuck do so many men still have unibrows? It’s not feminine, nor is it shameful to pluck the hairs from in-between your eyebrows. It’s actually disgusting not to. If you don’t believe me, ask the ladies!

Plucking in-between your eyebrows is the bare minimum you should be doing, but there is so much more! If your eyebrows are going crazy and you have lots of loose hairs just chilling on your forehead, at your temples, or on top of your nose (yes, apparently that’s a problem for some men), you can pluck them as well to give your eyebrows some structure. The key is not to overdo it: you don’t want your eyebrows looking like they were borrowed from Amanda Seyfried. You want to maintain that natural look, without hairs growing from random places on your forehead. So, the further a hair is from your eyebrows, the better it is to just pluck it.

If your eyebrows are too long or too bushy, you can always grab a trimmer, attach a 5-mm clipper, and just go over them, maybe once a week. This way they will still look very natural without that „Amazonian rainforest” look.

I’ll finish up this section by saying that you should wash your eyebrows every time you wash your face, and that should be daily! You don’t want dirt, sweat, or dead skin piling up in them bros! So, just to make sure they’re clean all the time!

Loose hairs

Yeah, I’m talking about that forest growing out of your nose and ears. That just shouldn’t be happening! Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for saving forests, but those are forests that are made up of actual trees, not disgusting hairs. So just grab a nose trimmer, and trim all of your nose- and ear hairs off every day. It literally takes a minute, and trust me bro, it’s worth the effort.

Your hair

Your hair plays a huge role in how your overall face looks. It can enhance your best facial features, or if you have a bad haircut, ruin an otherwise handsome face. So, get a haircut that suits you, and don’t be scared to experiment. I’ve told my hairdresser to „surprise me” countless times before, and most of the time it worked out great. As for the times my hair turned out like shit, it usually grew back within a few weeks!

You should get a fresh haircut every 2-3 weeks. Sounds too often? It did to me at first. But you have to realize, that once your hair starts losing its structure, or hairs start growing on the back of your neck or behind your ears, it’s time to do something about it and get a haircut!

One last thing: if you’re starting to go bald, it’s probably better to shave all your hair off. This is controversial advice, but in my opinion it’s the best thing you can do. And it also looks super badass! If you don’t believe me, check out Bruce Willis, Jason Statham, or The Rock – just to name a few. What you cannot prevent, you should lead! – so stop trying to cover the bald-spots up, or grow hair in a semi-circle. Just shave it all off, man!

Facial hair

Now comes the fun stuff, I saved the best for last. To start off, please don’t grow a goatee, a soul patch, or any other of that weird shit; it just creeps women (and in general: people) out. Don’t try to rock that „moustache only” look either! When it comes to facial hair, there are three basic looks you should be aiming for. Which one you choose depends on your genetics, your style, and your personal preferences.

The first look is the clean-shaven look. You just shave everything off, every day. It might not be the best look out there, but hey, it’s an eternal look that will never be considered weird, ugly, or creepy. If you’re working in the business sector, or you don’t have the ability to grow decent facial hair (e. g. your facial hair grows in patches), this is the look you should go with.

The second look is my personal favorite: having a manly stubble. Women absolutely love it, you look very masculine, and if done right, it can give the illusion of a more defined jawline. Once or twice a week, you should pick up your trimmer, and trim all of your facial hair. Then, take your razor, and shave your neck hairs, and your cheek hairs every single day, preferably in the morning! If you don’t shave in the right places every day, you’ll just look sloppy as fuck. This is a very modern and manly look, but make sure you do it right and take the time and effort to shave in the right places every day!

The final style is rocking a full-on beard. For some guys, it can be very difficult to grow a beard, so not everyone can rock this look – but if you can, go for it! But you have to realize that a beard isn’t about letting your facial hair grow wild and just hope for the best. You’ll have to trim it regularly to give it shape and structure; you’ll have to use oils and moisturizers to keep it healthy. If done wrong, you’ll look like a homeless guy who didn’t have access to a razor in years; but if done right, you’ll look like a modern-day Viking warrior!

Whichever style you choose, make sure to keep your neck and cheek hairs in check! Not many men pay attention to this small detail, but it can make a huge difference: it can emphasize your stubble or beard, it can give an illusion of having a more defined jawline, and you’ll just look way better overall.
